FRANTZ
® Sterling
® Steel Ball has been manufacturing carbon steel balls in Sterling IL since 1947. Sterling
® Steel Ball has developed and patented a process to provide strong corrosion resistance to carbon steel balls at a cost far lower than stainless steel alternatives. Sterling Armor
® is not a polymer treatment, not a coating, and not plating. Sterling Armor
® is a heat treating process that physically changes the microstructure within the steel surface of the ball creating a multi-layered corrosion resistant case depth. At Sterling Steel Ball, we bring new ball technology to you. Available exclusively at FRANTZ

This is our Sterling Armor
® value to you:
Performance vs. Stainless Steel
Sterling Armor® will perform in salt water, alcohol and ammonia environments where 302 stainless steel fails. Sterling Armor® will perform in hydraulic oil, fresh water, and salt water environments where 440C stainless steel fails. So tough is the barrier that our Sterling Armor® product will withstand thousands of hours of salt fogging. Quality and performance value delivered to you for a lower cost. Performance vs. Plated Steel
Sterling Armor® will perform in fresh water, salt water, alcohol, and ammonia environments where plated products perform poorly or fail. Sterling Armor® is not subject to common plating problems including flaking, blistering, bare spots, peeling or uneven surface coverage. Sterling Armor® outperforms plated steel in scuff and wear resistance. Quality and performance value delivered to you for a lower cost. Click here for more Sterling Armor® performance details.
Steel Ball Uses and Applications
Sterling Armor® steel balls are designed to handle light loads such as metal, polymer, and ball transfer bearing applications where outdoor or wash down environments require a corrosion resistant alternative tougher than plastic and more cost effective than stainless steel. FRANTZ will develop a Sterling Armor® conveyor bearing and roller solution for you too. Non-load steel ball applications include cosmetics agitators, automotive switches and seat belts, quick disconnect fittings, pump switches, and inertia systems where corrosion resistance is required. Other Characteristics
Sterling Armor® is delivered with a pleasing gloss black patina or a dull finish. It is non-toxic, environmentally friendly, and a green process that does not produce harmful chemical by-products.
Alternative Uses
The Sterling Armor® process can be applied to any carbon steel metal surface that needs corrosion protection including conveyor rollers and conveyor bearing housings. Call us with your needs.
